What Novelties Will Android 3.1 Bring?

Many people appreciate the Android system, but the Honeycomb version for tablets has proven that developers still have a lot to improve on system performances and software support – the number of apps available is small compared to the apps offered by Apple in its AppStore. The next version, Android 3.1, promises to bring some new features and improved performances, at least on a functional level.

For example, easier multitasking – a vertical scroll list will replace the static thumbs. The list shows the app users have opened. They will also be able to adjust the widget size on the virtual screen. The OS will run Flash 10.3 – more stable and allowing hardware acceleration. Access to standard and high definition movies is guaranteed by Movie Store and it costs $3-4 to rent it.
The USB port will support almost any type of peripheral devices: memory sticks, cameras including video camera, keyboards, gamepads etc. However, microUSB Android tablets require an adaptor. The interface and the native apps will be redefined and optimized for rapid access, easy use and latest technology support (hardware acceleration and HTML 5 support). For further details, go to the developers’ official page.
The date when users will be able to update their Honeycomb tablets to the Android 3.1 version is not yet known. What is certain is that the package has been delivered this month and that Xoom and Verizon subscribers can already update their system.
